Our Carpe Diem Haiku prompt for today is Suzushi (cool, coolness). My apologies to Banjo Paterson.
Once there was a swagman, came across a billabong, under the the shade of a coolabah tree…
the weary swagman
when the waltzing is all done
a cool billabong
a cool billabong
gently licking dusty skin
quenching the day’s heat
quenching the day’s heat
relaxed, at one with nature
floating like a log
floating like a log
the crocodile sneaks up on
the weary swagman
As the cockatoos fly off into the setting sun and the Dingo starts its dessert song, who’ll come a waltzing a waltzing with me?
Smiles, love and laughter

We often see logs floating down teh Brisbane River near home and have to look twice. So far, no Croc’s but they’re on their way south.

I enjoyed this tale in this series and I learned what a billabong is. Nicely done.
