Today’s Carpe Diem Haiku prompt is Hatsugatsuo (first Bonito)
My first two today were written for the images, whilst the last image caught the Haiku…
through wild white horses
the oarsmen chant your name –
hatsugatsuo
tuna whistle by
fishermen seeking refuge
from mountainous sea
haiku about fish
captured by the haijin’s line
bonito basho
Don’t worry, I hear the Bonito only needed one Basho at the end of the line.

Charming, all of them! But I like the chanting of the oarsmen best of all. Superb!

I, too, was captivated by the chanting oarsmen! And your third one is a fun play on words for all the would-be Basho’s in blogland! Fluking with my Father

Thank you, the idea of the fish getting a basho on the head tickled me, amongst other meanings 🙂

Your haiku never disappoints. Somewhat awed by the oarsmen and giggled at last one. Love the art you found.

Thank you Grace, that’s lovely to hear.
Seems I was channeling Bjorn with the artwork today 🙂
