Haiku Carpe Diem #177, Coffee

Today’s Carpe Diem Haiku prompt is Coffee.

There’s just so much to be thankful for about coffee, I didn’t know where to begin…or end.   Usually the first thing to pass my lips in the morning, the day just doesn’t start until the percolator bubbles…

with coffee
better latte –
than never

Praise be to Kaldi and his goats and the Arabica plant I say. I wouldn’t trade them for all the tea in china.

haha to third verse yet still lovely. I prefer latte too. Also Arabica only. Aren’t we fussy with our coffee preferences? Nice photos.

Thanks Grace, one does become somewhat of a coffee snob. One thing I struggle with going back to England to visit family and friends…it’s sooooo hard to find a decent coffee!

  2. Some good fun there can’t hide that classic middle haiku – very clever.

  3. Cathy Tenzo says:

Fun and wonderful. I have done a lot of work as a barista and live in Seattle which is high on snobby coffee but even when I was working and got anything I wanted to drink for free I almost always prefer plain black coffee.

  4. A coffee-addict too JRB? Nice set on coffee. I like the classic story in the second and the laughter in the third.

  5. Even the casual reader can tell that you love your coffee!

    Yesterday’s Coffee

  6. JazzBumpa says:

    clever and fun
    as always

  7. 3 different reasons to like your haiku, first one for the sentiment, 2nd one for its history. and last one for its fun….

  8. better latte than never – ha

each haiku good as is the dark roasted bean

  9. Poet Laundry says:

Enjoyed these very much. Quite clever–that last one! I think my favorite may be the first…and oh yes, much to be thankful for about coffee!

  10. kz says:

haha always love the playfulness in your last haiku. still, they always catch me by surprise. loved the first two, great how smoothly you switch from one mood to the next

  11. Ese' s Voice says:

Though my favourite is definitely the second one, being a caffè latte fan, the last one was…enjoyed with a true smile. 🙂
