Today’s Carpe Diem Haiku prompt is Tanpopo (Dandelion).
I recall childhood summer games played with dandelions. Girls checking if he loved them, watch-less boys telling the time. Those were the days they say, how soon life surrounds us, unnoticed.
childhood summer days
tell time by dandelion
late for tea again
ageing cherry tree
smiling dandelions steel
the ground beneath you
the sun exposes
shades of a former glory
wishes gone to seed
There’s my three blows at the Dandelion. What I’m wishing for shall remain a secret, but feel free to share thoughts in the dandelion confessional below.
Smiles, love and laughter.

Awesome series on Dandelions JRB … secrets? Well … I hope to see more wonderful haiku composed by you. And my secrets? … well they will stay there where they belong … right in my heart.

These are delightful. The second with those thieving, smiling dandelions is the best 🙂

Your poems are filled with a poignant nostalgia for childhood, long before we were programmed to despise the dandelion! I vote for the wine and salad!

I thought I’d be doing one on the Dandelion and Burdock drink my Nan used to give me, but for some reason it didn’t come out like I thought it might.
