Carpe Diem #139, Shitamoe (sprouting grasses and forbs)

The second Carpe Diem Haiku prompt for this day is Shitamoe (sprouting grasses and forbs).

Thoughts of grass starting to grow took my thoughts from the end of the winter footy season straight here…

the grass is growing
bats no longer in the dark
cricket is calling

cricket is calling
sounding from around the ground
leather on willow

leather on willow
nations battle, test of wills
the innings and outs

the innings and outs
whilst fame and fortune is made
the grass is growing

Apologies for those who do not know or care for Cricket 🙂

    No need to apologize

    Cheers!

Cricket sounds like baseball to me… no need to apologize unless the grass stops growing!
