Yesterday’s Carpe Diem Prompt was Buddha.
I’ve been missing from Carpe Diem for a few days whilst I come to terms with the passing of my Mother. I found myself unable to see past the fog that has descended in my mind to write a haiku myself. However, seeing the quote above reminded me that I have nothing but positive thoughts of my Mum and the love and laughter she brought into the lives of her family, friends as well as her patients and their families during her years as a Hospice Nurse.
If “all that we are is is the result of what we have thought” then what others think and feel about us is also a result of our thoughts. This implies that even in the depths of Mum’s dementia, her mind must have been full of love and laughter.

Oh, my dear…how difficult it is to loose a parent…I do believe that Buddha and the angels
are laughing with her joy… Your tribute to your Mother is heart warming.
For many years I worked with patients similar to your Mother, and believe that she knew how much she was loved on earth and now in the heavens. My sincere condolences to you and your family as you adjust to life without her and may your special memories of her bring peace to your heart and soul.

This is a lovely tribute to your mother and her memory! When dementia descends the last years can be a challenge for the family of the loved one. I hope and pray that the memory of her laughter and love will blur any sad memories you may have of the last years. Peace be with you!
